Title
Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Life: Student Leadership and Involvement
Description

Provides leadership and support to the fraternity and sorority community at Midwestern State University, which includes chapters represented through the College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and Cultural Greek Council. Promotes and implements opportunities for MSU students to engage and participate in volunteerism and community service. Reports to the Director of Student Leadership and Involvement.

Examples

Effectively advises the College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and Order of Omega Greek Honorary Society. Provides program oversight for formal and informal recruitment periods, including marketing and programming efforts to increase awareness of the chapters and councils comprising the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community at MSU. Develops and implements marketing and communication efforts for the FSL community, including the FSL website and communication plan with current and prospective students, families, and stakeholders. Coordinates educational and social programs within FSL serving all councils and chapters, such as New Member Institute, Greek Week, Greek Awards Banquet, and executive officer and advisor trainings and networking events. Assesses student outcomes and participation within FSL, monitors FSL chapter and council academic progress, and coordinates the Standards of Excellence annual reporting program for FSL chapters. Works with the FSL governing councils to plan and implement National Hazing Prevention Week programming and other awareness and educational events. Serves as a primary contact and resource for FSL chapter officers and advisors, and campus liaison to regional, national, and international representatives of FSL organizations. Assists with the management of University-owned chapter facilities, including maintenance and accounting. Partners with local community organizations to provide and promote community service opportunities for students. Coordinates the annual Maverick’s Day of Service event. Performs additional related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Leadership and Involvement.

Physical Condition

Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with programming responsibilities of the position.

Experience

Must possess at least 1-2 years of direct experience advising fraternities or sororities. Experience with campus activities, event planning, and organizing community service opportunities is preferred. Demonstrated experience working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.

Knowledge

Must possess direct knowledge of fraternity and sorority life operations on a college or university campus. Must possess knowledge of successful event or activity planning and implementation. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and skills in the areas of student organization advising, risk management, and program promotion and marketing. A successful candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain positive working relations with students, employees, alumni, and community organizations, and to create, deliver, and facilitate effective group presentations and workshops. Must be proficient in the use of computers and commonly used office software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education

Bachelor's degree required. A master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, counseling, or related field is preferred. High school graduation with strong experience in the specific job areas is acceptable.
