- Administrative Systems Manager
- Description
Responsible for managing all Information Technology administrative systems activities for the Midwestern State University campus. Implements, designs, and maintains computer solutions, assists in the evaluation and selection of new hardware and software technologies, and participates in developing policies and procedures for the Information Technology Department. Represents MSU in dealing with software and hardware vendors, industry associations and state and federal government agencies related to information services matters. Reports to the Chief Information Officer.
- Examples
Analyzes systems, develops solutions, trains users, and creates end-user and operational documentation. Confers with users and other staff members to resolve software and hardware problems. Develops feasibility studies and budget cost information pertaining to information systems projects. Develops, implements, and administers policies, guidelines, standards and training programs necessary to ensure adequate services. Conducts application research studies as appropriate to identify new methods, techniques and equipment which would enhance the operation of existing systems. Administers the installation, change-out, modification or purchase of computerized software solutions. Responsible for hiring, supervision and evaluation of IT programming, database administration and technology analyst staff. Evaluates staff workloads and modifies as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to lift 25 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Experience
Eight years work experience including at least five years in the field of computer programming. At least three years experience in responsible management capacity.
- Knowledge
Knowledge of various computer programming languages, databases, and operating systems software, in a multi-platform environment. Working knowledge of all MSU programming languages for the development or the modification of existing computer programs and systems. Ability to resolve technical issues. Knowledge of Oracle Database administration, Oracle Fusion Middleware products, Unix and Ellucian Banner products is desirable.
- Education
Bachelor's degree required.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Ability to work closely with users at all levels of technical expertise. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (High) and requires a criminal background check. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis
