Title
Audio Visual Technician
Description

Under the general supervision of the IT Infrastructure Manager, the Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for implementing, configuring and supporting classroom technologies. Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software and providing instruction to end users.

Examples

Work will include the installation and configuration of operating systems and application software; diagnosing and correcting hardware and software problems; and providing technical support to end users.

Physical Condition

Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Experience

Technical training with a strong background in PC and Mac hardware/software installation and repair. Experience with and knowledge of classroom instructional technologies, equipment and troubleshooting. Experience working with projector systems. Hands-on experience in system installation, configuration and maintenance.

Knowledge

Knowledge of audio-visual equipment installation and maintenance included but not limited to computers, projectors, monitors, document cameras, audio, control systems and video. Knowledge sufficient to resolve related hardware problems in a timely manner. Knowledge about systems software to determine if the malfunction is in the hardware or in the software. Ability to run diagnostic programs to locate malfunctions.

Education

Prefer college degree, however, high school graduation with heavy experience in the specific job areas is acceptable.

Requires practical problem solving and solid troubleshooting skills. Ability to train end users on operation of software and equipment. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with other people in a team-oriented environment. Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision and have a desire to learn new things. Must be well organized with excellent documentation skills. *Regular reliable attendance is required. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (High) and requires a criminal background check.
