Title
Marketing and Public Information Assistant
Description

Performs written communications and graphic work assisting the Director of Marketing and Public Information in a wide variety of professional tasks. Provides assistance to on-campus personnel as well as off-campus visitors and media.

Examples

Under the supervision of the Director for Marketing & Public Information: Answers and directs phone calls and responds to emails; Serves as a first point of contact in the office by welcoming visitors; Assists with bookkeeping, expense tracking, and preparing various forms, records, and other administrative paperwork; Develops and organizes filing system; Maintains the university’s website calendar of events; Writes, edits, and distributes weekly/biweekly internal newsletter; Produces monthly and quarterly calendar of events for community distribution; Copyedits news releases and marketing materials Attends training, seminars, and other meetings, as needed; performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

Experience of more than 2-3 years in a related field.

Knowledge

Possesses excellent editing and proofreading skills; Ability to write professional accurate copy for various purposes, such as internal and external communication, and marketing materials; Ability to express ideas in a clear and structured manner through excellent verbal and written skills; Ability to understand and meet assigned deadlines; Ability to utilize a personal computer and software including as Microsoft Office programs, as well as other administrative tools.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred in communications, journalism, English, or other related area.

Additional Requirements

Should possess the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment and personal maturity; and strong interpersonal skills. Understanding of how to work in a time-sensitive workspace and ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy office. Must be able to solve complex problems and to work independently with little supervision
