- Description
Provides secretarial and administrative support to the Vice President that involves performing a variety of complex technical, clerical and administrative duties. Works under the general supervision of the Vice President with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Relieves the Vice President of routine administrative duties. Supervises student assistants.
- Examples
Interacts with members of the university community to include executive and administrative personnel. Responsible for making independent decisions with full accountability. Initiates correspondence and prepares first draft reports on administrative matters. Reviews, screens, and evaluates incoming correspondence and phone calls to identify for priority handling. Responsible for oversight of functions hosted by the VPSAEM; develops agendas for meetings; maintains the VPSAEM calendar; and assists with special projects. Responsible for financial management of accounts and maintains records on these accounts. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Experience
Minimum of three years experience with demonstrated success directly related to upper level office administration and supervision. Should have extensive experience in general office practices and procedures, including some budgeting and personnel management, and creating a customer centric environment. Experience in scheduling meetings or events, program planning, preparation of professional documents, requisitions, presentations, and reports is required. Advanced PC experience is required in Microsoft Office applications. Experience creating and maintaining webpages is preferred. Experience in college student activities, advising, counseling or case management, or related administrative or managerial responsibilities is preferred.
- Knowledge
Excellent working knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation. Thorough knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment. Skill in word processing and advanced computing, including generally accepted Microsoft software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook) as well as technical knowledge of or ability to quickly learn new computer software. Ability to work independently on difficult or complex assignments and to interpret and follow pertinent policies and procedures clearly and accurately.
- Education
Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Additional Requirements
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and possess excellent time management, organizational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to work under pressure and uneven time constraints. Must be able to multi-task, work independently, solve complex and technical problems, and exercise sound judgement in difficult situations. Must be able to deliver outstanding, ongoing customer service, and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
