- Description
The Assistant to the President performs a wide range of administrative and office support duties of moderate complexity within the Office of the President at Midwestern State University. In addition to general office tasks, maintaining accounts, and preparing various forms and contracts, duties will include coordinating and managing Office of the President events under the direction of the Executive Assistant to the President. The role requires interacting professionally with university officials, staff, faculty, students, and visitors, both in person and via telephone, ensuring a high level of service and efficiency. This position is an integral part of the President’s Office team and reports to the Chief of Staff.

Maintains confidentiality both internally and externally. Produces work with accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness and handles duties in a responsible manner. Plans and organizes work to ensure timely completion of tasks and functions; prepares purchase requisitions, travel vouchers, forms, contracts, and related materials using a personal computer; proofreads documents, proofs, and other materials carefully to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Records expenses and reconciles accounts as necessary. Works with the Executive Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff to coordinate and manage events sponsored by the Office of the President, including events hosted at the President’s home and on campus. Maintains office supplies, places orders for replenishment, and picks up local items as necessary. Demonstrates a willingness to assist with whatever needs to be done to help the Office of the President operate effectively and efficiently. Manages the Office of the President in the absence of the Executive Assistant to the President.

- Experience
At least three years of related office experience and experience in event planning or coordination. Experience in social media management is a plus. Must hold a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
- Knowledge
Knowledge of general office procedures and practices; spelling, grammar, and punctuation; word processing and spreadsheet applications and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of simple bookkeeping such as recording and tracking expenditures, reconciling accounts monthly, and preparing reports. Skilled in customer service by phone and in person, as well as, oral and written communication. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; type proficiently using a computer keyboard; organize and complete multiple tasks in an accurate and timely manner; perform work requiring accuracy and attention to detail; operate a variety of office equipment, including computers, printers, and copy machines; maintain professionalism and internal and external confidentiality regarding office matters; multi-task different work activities or projects; and drive to purchase supplies and make deliveries as needed.
- Education
A bachelor's degree is preferred, though a high school diploma with extensive relevant experience may be substituted.

Ability to use good judgment in making decisions. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently on difficult or complex assignments.
