Title
Assistant to President
Description

Provides secretarial, administrative, and logistical support for all members of the University President's Office. Work involves planning, organizing, and performing a variety of complex technical, clerical, and administrative duties. Works under the general supervision of the Executive Assistant to the President with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Assists with planning and oversight of major events. Maintains President's Office inventory records. Manages several university accounts and maintains records on these accounts.

Examples

Handles routine and confidential correspondence. Schedules appointments, welcomes visitors, and maintains files, fiscal records, and restricted information. Performs specialized tasks requiring a high level of skill in typing and computer operation. Provides ongoing reconciliation of Office financial accounts and prepares necessary documents associated with those accounts. Receives gift sheets and prepares donor letters, providing background information as needed. 

Physical Condition
Experience

Should have considerable progressively responsible experience in general office practices and procedures, including some administrative work. Skilled use of PC (specifically Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is necessary) and other office equipment.

Knowledge

Working knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation. Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to type and maintain files.

Education

Prefer Bachelor's degree; however, high school graduation with heavy experience in the specific job areas may be substituted.

Ability to use good judgment in making decisions. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently on difficult or complex assignments.
