Title
Medical Radiologic Technologist
Description

Responsible for performing X-ray, EKG, laboratory testing, clinical support and front office clerical duties. Reports to the Medical Director, Vinson Health Center.

Examples

Responsible for setting up, calibrating and monitoring equipment operation. Performs diagnostic x-ray exam including positioning patients, operating equipment, determining length and intensity of exposure, and affixing protective shields. Maintains quality control and safety standards for X-ray and laboratory. Administers radiographic tests, and electrocardiograms. Assists in the assessment and management of patients. Performs triage of patients, phlebotomy, and laboratory testing according to written protocols. Responsible for maintaining accurate records on patients and provides educational instruction as indicated. Trains and instructs others regarding procedures and techniques in operating equipment and administering of diagnostic testing. Responsible for writing reports, maintaining equipment and completion of all radiology and laboratory records as required. Functions as front office clerical support to include answering the telephone, checking in clients, making appointments and other duties as assigned and required.

Physical Condition
Experience

Prior experience performing radiographic procedures in a hospital or clinical setting. Current certification to perform radiographic examinations in the state of Texas. Knowledge of standard operating procedures in a clinical setting is preferred.

Knowledge

Current trends, methods, material and equipment of the area. Knowledgeable in the operation of X-ray equipment, medical technical equipment, standard office procedures, and the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the area. Responsible for following Federal, State and Departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for becoming proficient with CLIA laboratory regulations.

Education

Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and current licensure by the Texas Department of State Health Services-Medical Radiologic Technology Board. Must maintain continuing education requirements for compliance with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Texas Department of State Health Services-Medical Radiologic Technology Board.
