Title
Director, Financial Aid
Description

Provides leadership, management, and supervision for a comprehensive student financial services program. Implements federal, state, university, and private grants, loans, and student employment, as well as financial counseling and debt management, including group loan entrance and exit interviews. Administers and coordinates all programs in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and operational guidelines. Reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Examples

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, program assessment and planning, budget preparation, need analysis, financial aid packaging, and professional judgment. Reviews, interprets and implements policies and procedures pertaining to all aspects of the student financial aid programs. Serves as resource person on matters of financial aid and other administrative functions. Oversees visits to junior and senior high schools as well as college day programs throughout the University's service area. Responsible for the selection, supervision, training, and evaluation of the office staff. Ensures borrower notification of loan delinquent or default status. Supervises the processing of financial aid results and award packaging via mail. Responsible for the completion of federal, state and other related reports. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Condition
Experience

Minimum of two to five years supervisory experience in college or university student financial aid is required.

Knowledge

Must have an advanced knowledge of state and federal financial aid programs to include grants, loans, scholarships, and work study. Must be knowledgeable in the use of personal computers as well as commonly used office software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook as well as student database software. Should also have good knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, budgeting, recordkeeping, and personnel management.

Education

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must be highly motivated, be an experienced and skilled manager/supervisor able to ensure effective office operation. Should have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work with a diverse population of students and co-workers in extremely stressful situations. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. *This position is designated as security sensitive (High) and requires a criminal background check.
