Title
Director, Admissions
Description

The Director of Admissions provides leadership to the university's undergraduate recruitment program. This position is responsible for collaboratively creating, administering, and evaluating a comprehensive undergraduate recruiting program enrolling a diverse student body. As part of this responsibility, this position provides leadership to the Admissions Office, which includes recruiting and processing functions. In addition, this position manages the university's academic merit scholarship program. Reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Examples

Coordinates and supervises the selection and training of Admission Office, including Welcome Center, personnel. Identifies, implements, and evaluates work processes within the Admissions Office. Administers multiple budgets related to the functions of the Admissions Office. Provides leadership and mentoring to personnel in the Admissions Office. Provides oversight to university visit functions and programs; prospective student communication plans; design of recruiting materials, and other functions generally utilized in student recruitment. Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to achieve the recruiting objectives of Midwestern State University. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Condition
Experience

Must have a minimum of five years of experience in a college admissions office in an administrative position and an extensive background in the coordination of recruitment practices and activities. Previous supervisory experience with developing and administering budget procedures.

Knowledge

Must have a thorough knowledge of student admission as well as student enrollment procedures. Must be knowledgeable in standard office practices and procedures.

Education

Master's degree required.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must have strong management, leadership, and communication skills; be service oriented; and be able to manage multiple tasks and work with various time constraints. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups on and off campus. Must have good public speaking skills and be able to act as the liaison between faculty, staff, prospective and current MSU students and their families. Must be willing to work some nights and weekends. *Regular reliable attendance is required. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (High) and requires a criminal background check.
