Title
Assistant to Vice President, University Advancement and Public Affairs
Description

Provides administrative support to the Vice President of UAPA with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Serves as liaison between the Vice President and the members of the professional staff. Performs complex technical, clerical, and administrative duties. Oversees and directs methods of appreciation to university donors. Responsible for budget oversight within the VP UAPA areas. Assists with development of university policies for the division. Supervises the VP UAPA office staff.

Examples

Interaction with members of the university community to include executive and administrative personnel. Responsible for making independent decisions with full accountability. Initiates correspondence and prepares first draft reports on administrative matters. Reviews, screens, and evaluates incoming correspondence and phone calls to identify for priority handling. Responsible for oversight of functions hosted by the VP UAPA; develops agendas for meetings; maintains the VP UAPA calendar; and assists with special projects. Relieves the Vice President of routine administrative details. Reports to the Vice President UAPA. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Condition
Experience

Minimum three years experience with demonstrated success directly related to upper level office administration and supervision.

Knowledge

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Advanced ability to multi-task and prioritize schedules and objectives. Some knowledge of accounting practices is helpful. Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred; however, high school graduation with heavy experience in the specific job areas is acceptable.

Ability to work independently on difficult or complex assignments. Highly "customer service" and detail oriented. Ability to communicate and represent the university in a positive manner to a diverse constituency and the community. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with supervising personnel, co-workers, subordinates and the public in general. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
