Title
Executive Associate Director Athletics
Description

Serves as the general manager of the MSU Athletic Department. Coordinates the daily administrative operations of the department, including, all game operations, NCAA compliance, and rules education. Responsible for supervising and directing all necessary functions required for the effective day-to-day operation of the department. Assists the director in long-range strategic planning for the department. Serves as the primary administrative contact in the director's absence. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Examples

Works closely with the Director of Athletics to prepare and administer the annual budget, addressing department priorities and maintaining suitable fiscal restraint at all times. Oversees and directs game management and ticket operations and compliance. Assists with the necessary functions associated with internal and external audits. Maintains all student eligibility records and insures that the department adheres to all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA. Reviews department policies and procedures on a regular basis, recommending changes as necessary. Assists the AD with facility planning and renovation projects. Represents athletic department at development and fund-raising events such as booster club meetings, annual golf tournament, and community and university functions as directed by AD. Addresses and provides direction for daily administrative matters of the department.

Physical Condition

Must be able to climb stairs in order to gain access to press boxes, bleachers, etc.

Experience

Approximately three to five years experience in athletic administration. Previous experience as a compliance coordinator or in interpreting the rules and regulations of the NCAA desired.

Knowledge

Must have advanced knowledge of athletic administration as well as the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Should also have general knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, computer skills, budgeting, ticket sales management, concession operations, and purchasing.

Education

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.

Must have effective written and oral communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to plan, organize and direct others. Must be able to exercise sound judgment in stressful situations and to work nights and weekends. Must be a positive representative for the university. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
