- Description
Performs responsible and complex administrative work under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Generally assists the Director in the operation of the Human Resources Department and in the planning and execution of personnel policies and procedures.
- Examples
Assists in the administration of numerous employee programs such as the staff educational incentive program, dependent educational assistance program, employee service recognition award ceremony, and annual staff awards. Maintains employees' records of FMLA and sick leave pool application and usage as well as other types of leave. Assists the Benefits Coordinator in administering benefits programs. Maintains the Human Resources webpage and Human Resources portal. Constructs web-based forms. Responsible for ad hoc reporting as assigned. Collects and verifies I-9 work eligibility documentation. Conducts background checks and verifications of past employment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Experience
Two or more years human resource experience, preferably for a public agency. State of Texas higher education experience is desirable. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of software technology including Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Knowledge of Banner is desirable.
- Knowledge
Must have knowledge of federal, state and university laws and regulations relating to human resources administration and implementation, including AA/EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA and others. Skilled in use of PC, typewriter and automated human resource systems. Thorough knowledge of the campus organization, functions, procedures, and personnel is helpful.
- Education
Bachelor's degree (preferably with courses in Human Resources, Education, Business, or Public Administration) or equivalent experience is desirable.
