- Description
Responsible for providing comprehensive leadership and vision for the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities including restorative justice programs, alternative dispute resolution programs, and overseeing and managing the student conduct process and Code of Student Conduct. Chairs the Behavioral Intervention Team and manages referrals for student behavior. Advocates for and advises students through the process of general complaints, academic withdrawals, absence notifications, welfare checks, and referrals to community-based resources. Manages online primary prevention and awareness program for new students. Monitors institutional compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and prepares reports. Reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
- Examples
Develops programs and services responsive to the needs of the campus community, including policy formulation and student advocacy. As chief student judicial officer, ensures all cases of student discipline are appropriately adjudicated, and followed up on, as needed. Provides comprehensive training for conduct committees and administrative hearing officers. Provides behavioral intervention training and resources for faculty and staff personnel. Receives and processes student referrals for student behavior, welfare, and attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Physical Condition
- Experience
Three or more years professional experience in positions with progressive responsibility in a college or university setting. Experience with student conduct programs, behavioral intervention, student advocacy, and understanding of applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge
Knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment of students' rights and responsibilities and student affairs at colleges and universities. The ability to administer effective student conduct programs and understanding and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and economic diversity of students and the community. Skill in the use of standard Microsoft office computer and web-based applications.
- Education
Master's degree required in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Education, or related field.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills. Must possess strong interpersonal and analytical skills. Must be able to multi-task, work independently, solve complex problems, and exercise sound judgment in difficult situations. Must have the sensitivity and skill to work with a diverse and multicultural student, employee, and community population. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. *Regular reliable attendance is required. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
