- Description
The Assistant Director is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive career management and job development program for Midwestern State University students, graduating seniors, and alumni. Reports to the Director of the Career Management Center & Testing Services.
- Examples
Manages the Career Management Center & Testing Services comprehensive, integrated, and responsive career and employer development component. Leads the creation and implementation of career and employment specific events and activities. Creates marketing and promotion material for all student, employer, and networking related services to increase the visibility of students to employers. Serves as the lead liaison with designated colleges within the university. Oversees the CMC job development process. Develops and conducts presentations to both on-campus and off campus constituents. Assists students and alumni in developing resume writing, cover letter writing, and interviewing skills. Educates students and alumni on how to conduct an effective and successful job search. Teaches students and alumni how to network effectively and make a positive lasting impression. Assists students and alumni in the evaluation of employment opportunities and job offers. Serves on university committees and work groups as needed to promote the vision and goals of the CMC. Provides leadership, oversight, training and supervision of professional and student staff. Other duties as assigned by the Director

- Experience
Experience in career management desired. Knowledge of job development services along with building working relationships with business, industry, students, alumni and university personnel. Public speaking skills and presentation development required.
- Knowledge
Must have the ability to apply current technology in career management and industry relations, use sound management principles in the daily operation of a comprehensive career management program, communicate effectively with a diverse student and faculty population, and analyze the background of individual students to offer guidance regarding employment opportunities. Must set priorities, goals and objectives, and conduct long-range planning. Knowledge of career management software and MS Office Applications desired.
- Education
Master's degree required.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must be able and willing to work nights and weekends when needed with limited supervision. Regular reliable attendance is required. This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
