Title
Custodial Foreperson - Quality Assurance
Description

Performs semi-skilled work to clean and maintain a building or group of buildings and their premises. Work involves the responsibility for the maintenance of building equipment, training and inspection standards, and supply inventories for Custodial Services. General supervision is received, but workers must use their own judgment for the solution of routine problems. Reports to the Manager for Custodial and Residence Maintenance.

Examples

Completes routine standardized inspections of all buildings to maintain a consistent quality of cleanliness. Provides instruction and training required to meet inspection standards. Trains new and existing Custodians on a periodic basis on the proper use of all cleaning/disinfecting equipment and proper cleaning techniques to include ride on, walk behind and hand held machines, disinfectant spraying, extraction, and floor refinishing. Oversees the maintenance of cleaning/disinfecting equipment. Conducts basic troubleshooting of Custodial equipment with the user. Repairs, adjusts, or forwards damaged equipment to the Vehicle Shop for more extensive repairs.  Conducts routine disinfection operations in campus buildings. Disinfects all common areas. Oversees the organization and distribution of uniforms for Custodial personnel. Reorganizes all Custodial closets so they are uniform and ensures closets remain as such to expedite the restocking process.  Monitors usage of supplies in the closets and orders/restocks supplies to ensure ample product for all Custodians.  Inspects to ensure proper operation and, if needed, replaces paper towel, toilet paper, hand soap, or sanitizer dispensers. Maintains all SDS folders in all custodial and supply closets to ensure they are accurate and up to date.  Ensures personnel complete all mandatory training (i.e., EEO, Security Awareness, etc.) in a timely fashion.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Condition

Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time, to climb stairs and ladders, to stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform a variety of manual tasks associated with duties. Must be able to work with and around cleaning products and chemicals.

Experience

Should have considerable experience in the operation, cleaning, care, and maintenance of large buildings and Custodial equipment.

Knowledge

Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment used in cleaning and caring for large buildings. Knowledge of the principles and methods of property and equipment inventory control. Knowledge of hazardous material handling requirements and ability to train Custodians to ensure compliance with SDS standards. Must be able to prepare written reports. Basis computer skills and knowledge of Outlook is desirable.

Education

High school graduation or equivalent.

Additional Requirements

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must be fully qualified as a Custodian and be able to provide training to Custodial personnel. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with building occupants, associates, and others. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires employment physical exam. *A valid Texas driver's license is required. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
