Careers in Finance
Training in finance helps prepare students for positions in financial institutions such as banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and insurance companies. They are also prepared for positions as city managers, budget specialists for the state and federal government, as well as purchasing agents and senior buyers for your favorite large department store chains.
Finance curriculum requirements are based on exposure to areas of general business concerns for a broad business education. With a sound foundation in finance, students can land that first job.
While finance is an industry in itself, as evidenced by stock exchanges and other financial institutions, it is also an integral part of other businesses. A career in finance will put you into the heart of American business. Finance graduates receive some of the top starting salaries among all business fields. Our goal in finance is to enhance leadership potential by providing a high quality and thorough educational experience in preparation for careers in commercial banking, business finance, investment management, real estate and insurance.
Almost every firm, government agency, and organization has one or more financial managers who oversee the preparation of financial reports, direct investment activities, and implement cash management strategies. As computers are increasingly used to record and organize data, many financial managers are spending more time developing strategies and implementing the long-term goal of their organization.
