All faculty are welcome to schedule library tours and instruction sessions.
The librarians at Moffett Library serve all programs, faculty and students at all levels of scholarship. In line with the library's mission, we provide class and small group instruction to help build skills in finding, accessing, evaluating, and using information sources.
In order to ensure the best library instruction for your students, and avoid scheduling conflicts, we ask that sessions are requested at least two weeks in advance.
Moffett Library offers physical tours of the building. Tours begin in the lobby and proceed throughout the library, including an overview of the circulation desk, the various collections found in the library, an introduction to the Library of Congress shelving method, and a stop by Special Collections with a brief history of the library's Nolan A. Moore Collection. If there is enough time, we can also give a tour before classroom instruction.
Taken from the Tutoring and Academic Support page, College Connections is described as such:
This course assists new students in their transition to the college environment. The curriculum is designed to build academic knowledge and study skills for success in college, provide major and career exploration opportunities, and promote student engagement for an exceptional first year experience.
The College Connections instruction is intended to guide students through the basics of searching the library catalog and how to utilize online services provided by the library.
Request College Connections InstructionTailored to more advanced research, the database access and CRAP test instruction provides students with an in-depth look at the scholarly databases found on the library's website. Students are taken through the process of off-campus access and shown the steps for the CRAP test, a valuable tool useful in searching for reliable information.
While instructional staff stick to one of the two main types of instruction, you may also request fully customized instruction based on the needs of your class. If this option is chosen, you will be contacted by a librarian shortly after your request for more information about how to tailor instruction to your needs.
