The Study Abroad Department sponsors a four-week study abroad program in Granada, Spain, for which students receive six hours of credit.

The program is ideal for students who have already taken the first year of Spanish because they can complete their entire second year in four weeks in Granada. The program also caters to both complete beginners and more advanced students. Students pursuing a BS degree at Midwestern can receive six hours of elective credits for elementary Spanish.

Granada is home of the stunning Alhambra in the heart of Andalucia in Southern Spain. It is a culturally rich city in its own right but is also within reach of Seville, Cordoba, and the Mediterranean Sea.

Students study intensively at the Enforex Language Institute during the week and are free on weekends. They live and dine with a Spanish family during their entire stay. The program ends with a two-day stay in Madrid.

Both 2016 programs will take place from May 26 to June 27, before the second summer session begins at MSU. Students arrive in Granada a few days before classes start in order to get over jet lag and to get familiar with their families and their surroundings.

The cost of the 2016 program (not including the Study Abroad scholarship) is $6,800. It includes round trip airfare from Dallas to Madrid, round-trip transfers from Madrid to Grenada, tuition and books at Enforex, room and half board (breakfast and dinner) daily with the host family, two school-sponsored tours, and the hotel in Madrid. This all-inclusive program was designed so that students have minimal out-of-pocket expenses while in Spain.

All MSU students who qualify receive a scholarship from the Study Abroad Department. Students in the Redwine Honors Program also receive an additional scholarship that matches that from the Study Abroad Department.
