Re-Registration
Re-registration is an essential process that ensures student organizations remain active and in good standing with the university. To successfully re-register your organization, please follow the three steps outlined below, all of which can be completed via MustangsLink:
- Mustangs Link Re-registration Form: The first step in the re-registration process is to complete the Mustangs Link re-registration form. This form requires you to update your organization's information, including the list of current officers, members, and advisor(s). You will also need to provide a brief description of your organization's goals and activities for the upcoming year.
- Student Organization Training: The second step is to attend the mandatory student organization training session via Mustangs Link. This training is designed to provide organization leaders with important information about university policies, resources available to student organizations, and best practices for effective organization management. At least one representative from your organization must attend this training, but it is highly recommended that all officers participate.
- Post-Training Survey: After attending the training session, the representative(s) who attended must complete a post-training survey. This survey is an opportunity to provide feedback on the training and to confirm that your organization has received and understands the information presented. Completing this survey is a crucial step in the re-registration process, as it helps ensure that your organization is prepared to operate effectively in the upcoming year.
Registration Deadline
To maintain active status and ensure full access to university resources and opportunities, student organizations must adhere to the following registration deadlines:
- Fall Semester Deadline: September 15
- Spring Semester Deadline: February 15
It is important to complete the re-registration process by these deadlines to avoid any disruptions in your organization's activities.
Student Organization Requirements
To ensure the successful operation and sustainability of student organizations at MSU, the following requirements must be met:
- Membership: Each organization must have at least four (4) active members to remain in good standing. This requirement helps ensure that the organization has enough participation to effectively pursue its goals and activities.
- Faculty/Staff Advisor: Every student organization is required to have an advisor who is a current MSU faculty or staff member. The advisor plays a crucial role in providing guidance, support, and continuity to the organization. They serve as a liaison between the organization and the university and help ensure that the group operates in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Executive Officers' GPA: All executive officers of the organization (e.g., President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary) must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. This requirement is in place to ensure that student leaders are in good academic standing, which is essential for effectively managing the responsibilities of their leadership roles.
