Annual Events and Festivities
Are you new to MSU Texas? If so, this event is for you!
During this three-day orientation event, we will teach you MSU Texas' many traditions and how to get involved on campus. Additionally, you will build connections with upper division students and faculty in your college.
Open to all students, Stampede Week takes place during the first week of class each fall and spring semester.
Take part in fun activities where you might make new friends, connect with campus opportunities, and generally have a great time. Scheduled events typically include outdoor movies to live entertainment and more.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of Caribfest, the ultimate celebration of Caribbean culture! Students and community members participate in the festivities honoring the independence of West Indian nations.
In the spring, runners and walkers gather at Sikes Lake for the annual 5Kolor Run hosted by the Office of Residence Life and the Wellness Center. Students run and walk around Shipley Trail at Sikes Lake and are doused by colored powder at multiple stations along the run.
Experience the excitement of the Homecoming Cardboard Boat Race! Join us at Sikes Lake as teams representing various student organizations showcase their creativity and determination by constructing boats entirely out of cardboard and duct tape. With vibrant decorations and eager spectators, cheer on your favorite teams as they race across the water, vying for victory or a memorable sink. Do not miss this thrilling event, where innovation and teamwork take center stage!
The beginning of the Homecoming competition is marked each year with the Lip Sync Competition in the D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Student organizations create skits to the tune of the current Homecoming theme and their own personal style. The top three performances will appear later in the week in the finals at the Bonfire Pep Rally.
The Torchlight Parade began in conjunction with America's Greatest College Weekend in the 1980s. After football returned to MSU Texas in 1988, the Torchlight Parade was incorporated as a precursor to the Bonfire. Today, this event is possibly the most memorable part of Homecoming Week.
The Homecoming Bonfire has been around for several years, dating as far back as the 1960s. The Bonfire serves as the official Pep Rally before the big Homecoming Game. Before the bonfire the Office of Student Leadership & Involvement decorates the pallets with shirts from other schools to burn during the Bonfire. Shirts are collected in exchange for a free bonfire shirt during Homecoming Week.
Each year, students, faculty, and staff join efforts to serve local nonprofit organizations in Wichita Falls. Do your part to help beautify your community (i.e., pick up litter) and mend fences in the morning, and then round up back on campus in the afternoon for a big, Texas cookout!
Each semester the university and local community is invited to attend a concert by world-class musicians. The series debuted in spring 2012 and has since hosted many notable classical musicians.
The week before finals on Thursday is reserved for Finals Frenzy. Students enjoy games, activities, and food while taking a break from studying for their finals.
This summer concert series is held under the Ruby and Robert Priddy Pavilion and sponsored by the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU Texas and their Wichita Falls community partners. From May until August on select Thursday evenings, you can hear the pavilion rocking with sounds from the '80s, contemporary music, or acoustics from the Caribbean Band. Do not forget to bring a lawn chair.
Getting Around on Campus
You Can Walk Everywhere Except...
Like many college campuses, our campus is incredibly walkable. You can get anywhere on campus in 10 minutes or less.
That said, beware. There is one place you absolutely want to keep clear of: Never walk on the MSU Texas Seal in the Clark Student Center atrium. If you do, you risk the curse of not graduating on time.
Mistakes happen, however, and if you find yourself standing in this unfortunate predicament, do not walk, run and touch the Believers statue located on the south of the D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Clark Student Center
The Clark Student Center (CSC) is one of the primary vibrant hubs on campus. It is home to the bookstore, post office, many dining options, MOSAIC, a recreation room, and more.
Stop in for lunch and study or socialize with friends between classes or unwind in the hubbub of Mustangs Action!
Bridwell Activities Center
As a hub for many student organizations government, Greek life, and activities, the Bridwell Activities Center (BAC) is a great space to connect with your peers.

University Programming Board
The University Programming Board (UPB) is a student-led organization responsible for campus programming. Its efforts include bringing in featured entertainers, a cinema series, and many other special events for the students. Additionally, it is active in the planning for Stampede Week, Family Day, Homecoming, and Finals Frenzy.
If you want to be an active member of this exciting board, all you need to do is show up to a meeting or event. It is that easy!

How can I stay informed about campus events, news, and important announcements?
How do I get my student ID or where should I go if I lose my student ID?
Campus Cards are issued by the information desk in Clark Student Center, room 116. If your card is lost or stolen, immediately contact the Clark Student Center at 940.397.4223 to deactivate it. There is a $20 replacement fee.
Where do I get my packages and mail if I live on campus?
The campus post office is located in the south end of the Clark Student Center. This location is where you will find parcel lockers and manned office windows where you can pick up your packages.
Post office boxes where you can pick up letter mail are available at three select residence halls:
- Sundance Court: Post office boxes are available to residents of this hall
- Sunwatcher Village: Post office boxes are available to residents of this hall
- Legacy Hall: Post office boxes are available to all other students living in on-campus housing
How do I request academic accommodations or support for disabilities?
