French at Midwestern State University is a small, intimate program that specializes in accommodating students with varying degrees of language proficiency and with different interests. Most classes and seminars have limited enrollments so that students receive close, individual attention in and out of class.
The French program offers a minor and an area of concentration. The minor requires twelve hours (4 courses) of advanced work beyond the initial 14 hours (4 courses) of language instruction, and the area of concentration requires 18 hours (6 courses) of advanced work.
The French department is a member of Pi Delta Phi, the French National Honor Society. We are chapter XI ETA.
Students can earn 6 credit hours in a four-week immersion program in Tours, France, from late May to late June.
A $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a French minor.
The French Club is open to anyone interested in francophone cultures.
