Purpose
Radiological clinical services are changing in the United States. Computed Tomography (CT) has become essential in nearly all aspects of healthcare and continues to grow exponentially. The MSU Computed Tomography Certificate Program provides radiology professionals an opportunity to further their radiologic science careers.

How?
  • Career Advancement- move up into a Clinical, Administration, and/or Educational role
  • Increased Marketability-Demands are Increasing for Dual-Modality technologists
  • Earn College Credit Towards a BSRS Degree
  • Earn Continuing Education Credits
The MSU CT Certificate Program program consists of fully online didactic courses and clinical experience requirements obtained by student arrangement. Upon completion of the CT Certificate Program, technologists will have received the requirements needed to qualify for and take the post-primary American Registry of Radiologic Technologists® (ARRT®) Computed Tomography (CT) Examination.
Pathways

The CT Certificate Program is designed to meet the growing need for CT-competent technologists in radiology. This program provides several pathways to meet the specific requirements of the individual radiology student or professional. All CT program courses are delivered entirely online with no on-campus requirements.

CT Certificate with a BSRS (Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences) Completion Degree

This pathway is for students who would like to complete the CT Certificate Program and a BSRS degree at the same time. The CT courses satisfy the elective components of the BSRS degree. This path is for technologists with one of the following

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (R)
  • Radiation Therapist (T)
  • Nuclear Medicine (N) with ARRT or CNMT with NMTCB

Upon completion, the technologist will be prepared to sit for the ARRT CT Examination.

CT Certificate Only-Non-degree seeking

This pathway is for registered technologists who are wanting to earn their CT Registry. This path is for technologists with one of the following

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (R)
  • Radiation Therapist (T)
  • Nuclear Medicine (N) with ARRT or CNMT with NMTCB

Completing the certificate will prepare the technologist to sit for the ARRT CT Examination.

Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRT) with CT-Dual Modality

This pathway is for entry-level students who are seeking dual national registries (Radiography and CT). Following the completion of the MSU BSRT entry-level program, and upon passing the ARRT Radiography registry exam students may sit for the ARRT CT Examination.

Flexible Clinical Arrangements

The CT program courses are fully online providing flexibility in schedules and geographical locations. Students may achieve their CT ARRT clinical experience requirements in the hospital or clinic where they are employed or at a location near them. MSU can provide help in forming these relationships.

COVID-19 is currently affecting our community and campus. Please be aware that policies may change suddenly. Clinical site immunization policies supersede program requirements. Students must understand that most clinical agencies prohibit the presence of unvaccinated students at their facilities. Students who are unwilling or unable to comply with their clinical site immunization policy will be required to step out of the program and reapply. Students attending programs in the Gunn College of Health Science and Human services will most likely care for COVID-positive patients. Therefore, it is advised that all students receive the COVID-19 vaccine before their first clinical rotation. It is also recommended that students receive the COVID-19 booster.
