Once accepted to the University, new students can apply for housing and complete the Housing Reservation Questionnaire. Upon completion, you will be directed to the TouchNet system to submit your $250 advance payment. All students who were not enrolled in housing during the previous semester will be required to submit an advanced payment. Learn more about the application process below under "Future Mustangs."
Fall 2024: Current Residents will receive detailed information in early February about the returning student room selection process for the Fall 2024-Spring 2025 academic year. Students are encouraged to attend floor meetings and to watch their email carefully for instructions about applying for housing for the following Fall semester. Students transferring to Midwestern State University from another university or returning to campus after taking a semester off will follow the Future Mustangs application process. Transfer students are also encouraged to apply early and check out the Transfer Student Living Learning Program.
Future Mustangs
Once accepted to the University, new students can apply for Fall 2024 Housing beginning on October 25, 2023.
New Students applying for housing should log in to the housing portal and complete the Housing Reservation Questionnaire.

Once you log onto the Housing Portal, select the housing application for the term in which you will be starting at MSU Texas. For example, if your first day of class will be in August, you will need to select the Fall application.
Upon completing your housing application, you will be directed to the TouchNet system to submit your $250 advance payment.
Please note, you only have to pay the advanced payment once when you entered housing for the first time. However, if you leave for a semester or longer, then you have to re-apply and pay the advanced payment again. The advance payment will be refunded/applied to your student account within the first 3 weeks of the semester.
On October 25, 2023, room selections for new/transfer students will become available:
- Students who designate a Living Learning Program (LLP) on their housing application will be automatically assigned to their room starting on February 19, 2024, You can check your room status on the Housing Portal.
- Students who have applied and paid the advanced payment on or before May 1, 2024, can select rooms beginning at noon CST on June 1, 2024
- Room selections for all students will end on June 15, 2024
- Students who have applied and paid the advanced payment between May 2 - June 1, 2024, can select rooms beginning at noon CST on June 7, 2024
- Room selections for all students will end on June 15, 2024
- Students completing their application and advanced payment after June 1 will be automatically assigned on a weekly basis by our office beginning on June 15.
Meningitis Information
Per Texas Senate Bill 1107 (effective January 1, 2012), all new students under the age of 30 must receive a bacterial meningitis immunization at least 10 days before moving on campus. MSU has contracted with Magnus Health to collect, review, and securely store all student records pertaining to the meningitis vaccine. Students may access the Magnus Health portal and upload necessary documentation via this link. For more information about the Meningitis Immunization requirement and other health-related questions, please visit the Vinson Health Center webpage.
Summer Housing
All students residing on campus for the summer will be assigned to an apartment in Sunwatcher Village or Sundance Court.
Unless graduating after completing the Summer I or Summer II session, summer residents are required to have a course schedule for the subsequent Fall semester. Enrollment in summer courses is not a prerequisite to living in campus housing.
Information about Summer I & II housing and Summer Break Housing will be available at the end of March. For any questions, please talk to your Resident Assistant (RA) or contact the Housing Office at Housing@MSUTexas.edu.
Once the Summer Application becomes available, you can apply by completing the Summer housing agreement located in the Housing Portal. Students will automatically be placed in a housing assignment based on availability.
