Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)
- Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is used to collect information to help determine eligibility for state financial aid programs that are administered by institutions of higher education in the state of Texas. Students that are classified as a Texas Resident, who cannot apply for federal financial aid because they are not a U.S. Citizen nor an Eligible Permanent Resident, are encouraged to complete the TASFA. Please note that Texas Residency can only be determined by the Admissions Office. The TASFA cannot be used to determine your state residency status or final eligibility for state aid.
- You will be required to apply for admission to MSU. After your admission application has been reviewed, the MSU Admissions Office will require you to complete an affidavit to confirm that you are eligible; you must submit a copy of this affidavit to the MSU Financial Aid Office as well.
- If you qualify, you must complete the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) and submit the form to the MSU Financial Aid Office if you wish to apply for state/institutional financial aid; TASFA students are NOT eligible to receive federal aid, such as the Pell Grant and Direct Loans.
- After you have completed and submitted the TASFA application, the MSU Financial Aid Office may request additional information from you/spouse and/or parent; examples of requested documentation may include a signed Tax Return OR Transcript, Verification of Non-Tax Filers form, W2 forms etc… your requested documentation can be viewed at MSU's Portal.
