Academic Advising

Academic advising is hybrid between the graduate coordinator and graduate academic counselor.

It taught me the importance of patience and trusting the process in each class. Having successful instructors in the health administration industry has greatly empowered me for my future career. Their expertise and guidance have illuminated the wide range of career fields available. Additionally, they have encouraged me to seek out opportunities within health administration, enabling me to gain valuable experiences beyond the classroom and apply my knowledge to real-world situations. A highlight of the MHA program for me has been the unwavering support from Dr. (Jennifer) Anderson. Despite the challenges of having most instructors being off-campus, Dr. Anderson has made communication effortless. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at MSU Texas and look forward to another enriching year as I complete my MHA master's degree.

I also learned how different the healthcare system and hospitals are constantly changing to adapt to new inactions and also how the world is changing. What made me feel empowered in my career is it never showed me the right way to run a hospital, but instead showed me different ways to improve a healthcare system within a hospital and also what can affect your hospital and the systems. My best memories were friends that I made along the way — our backgrounds were different — but we all had the same goal when pursuing this program.
