About Us

The Office of Equity, Inclusion & Multicultural Affairs opened on November 1, 2016. Administrators, faculty, staff and students were instrumental in the development of EIMA as a response to the need for improved services and programs for under-represented and historically marginalized groups on campus.

What does this all mean?

Ensure MSU is providing an equitable educational experience by identifying gaps in student success indicators primarily for underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations and proactively work to eliminate those gaps.

  • Collaborate with Institutional Research to disaggregate and analyze student success data to determine gaps, as well as to conduct a comprehensive Campus Climate Survey to capture the experience of students, staff and faculty.
  • Develop a work group or task force that includes a designated staff and/or faculty person from each academic unit, as well as key individuals in student affairs to review student success indicators and develop a comprehensive plan that addresses gaps across the campus.

Ensure MSU is cultivating a campus experience in which all students feel included and affirmed in their decision to invest in their education at MSU by creating a culturally competent campus environment.

  • Develop educational programs, workshops, and training that engages the campus community to improve cultural competence that leads to greater awareness of diversity and critical issues, as well as develops allies across the campus.

Multicultural Affairs

Serve as a support and advocacy center for underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations by providing programming that focuses on student success and holistic development that leads to future personal and professional advancement.

  • Develop programming grounded in identity-consciousness that supports, affirm, builds community, empowers and retains students of color.
