How Do I Order a Book/Item for the Library Collection? (For Faculty Members)

Faculty members who wish to order books, journals or media items for their classes can request that the library liaison for their department send the request to the Collection Development Librarian. Items that are being charged to a department's book account should show both the requestor's name and also the signature of the department's library liaison. Please remember that under normal conditions the library requires 2 to 3 months to process an order, receive it, and then catalog it. In some cases we can shorten that time, but please order materials you need for the next semester as early as possible. If a book is a Rush Order please indicate that on your written order form.

How Can I Find Out the Status of My Orders? (For Faculty Members)

They are a number of ways to determine the current status of a book/item you have ordered.

  1. You may call the Collection Development Librarian, phone # 940-397-4169, and ask them to check on the status of your request.
  2. You might look in the library’s online catalog, Primo. If the book is "On Order" it means it has been ordered but not arrived in the library yet; "In Process" means that it has arrived but is not completely catalogued yet. If the book is not listed at all you would want to call the Collection Development Librarian.

How Do I Suggest a Book/Item for the Library Collection? (For Non-Faculty Members)

Students who wish to suggest books, journals or media ideas for the library can use the online Materials Request Form

The request will be sent to the Collection Development Librarian. We also have blank book request forms in the library on the 1st floor next to the Suggestion Box. Fill one out and drop it in the Suggestion Box.
