The information below will clear the HSTS (HTTP Strict Transport Security) settings for the MSU Texas website in your browser. Follow the instructions if you have experienced any security errors when accessing Moffett Library's research databases.

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Search for chrome://net-internals/#hsts in the address bar
  3. In the Query HSTS/PKP domain field, type in the domain name ( for which you want to delete the HSTS settings. This should return some values.

  4. Now scroll down the page and enter the same domain name ( in the Delete domain security policies and press the delete button

This will successfully clear the HSTS settings in Chrome. Restart the Chrome browser and try to access the database that gave the error again.


Option 1

  1. Close all open Firefox windows
  2. Open the browsing history by pressing Ctrl + Shift + H (Cmd + Shift + H on Mac)
  3. Go to the site for which you want to clear HSTS settings
  4. Now right-click on that site and then click on Forget About This Site. Keep in mind that this will clear all data of the site present in Firefox.

Option 2 - Clearing HSTS by clearing Site Preferences

  1. Open Firefox, click the Library icon and select History > Clear Recent History.
  2. In the Clear All History window, set the Time range to clear drop-down menu to Everything.
  3. Next, expand the Details menu and uncheck every option except for Site Preferences.

  4. Click the Clear Now button to clear all site preferences including the HSTS settings.
  5. Reboot Firefox and see if the issue has been resolved at the next startup.



  1. Close Safari.
  2. Delete the ~/Library/Cookies/HSTS.plist file.
  3. Reopen Safari.
