Windows 8
Step 1
To access the MSUSecureWireless network, follow the instructions below:
Navigate to your wireless menu.
Select the MSUSecureWireless network.
Select "connect."
Add your credentials as shown and click "OK."
Note: Students must use STUDENT\ and Faculty and Staff must use ADMIN\ before their usernames.
You may get a notification about the network. This is normal, just click "connect."
Next, you should see an indication that your device is connected to the network, like the one below.
However, if the screen you get looks like the one below
this
line of text, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Troubleshooting
If you're reading this, your device running Windows 8 did not connect to the network. Let's fix it.
First, get to the
Control Panel
. This part may look a bit different depending upon which device you're using, but don't worry. The menu commands listed in
bold
will be the same.
From here, you will look for the
Network and Sharing Center.
Select it when you find it.
Now, select "
Set up a new connection or network
."
Select the option to "
Manually configure a wireless network
."
Enter the information exactly as it is shown in the picture below.
Now click "
Change Connection Settings
."
Then you'll see a screen like the one below. Click over to the "
Security
" tab.
You'll see a field like the one below. Click on the button for "
Settings
" halfway down the page.
Uncheck the option to "
Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate
" and then click "
Configure
."
Be sure to
uncheck
the option to "
Automatically use my Windows login
..."
and then click "
OK
" and click on "
Advanced Settings
."
Check "
Specify authentication mode
" and then select "
User authentication
" from the drop down menu.
Now enter your credentials in the format mentioned in Step 1.
You should see that your device is connected to the network. Go you!
If you need access to instructions for Windows 7, view the
Windows 7 instructions
page.
