A Message from President Shipley

Dear Mustangs Family,

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce to you today our intent to be fully operational this fall for in-person instruction. In order to fully open our campus for fall classes, we will follow guidelines set forth by our governmental entities and implement protocols that safeguard the health and well-being of all members of our campus community. You will be apprised of those protocols as they are confirmed. Please continue to watch for regular updates concerning these important steps via your email and the MSU Texas website.

As our city and state governments begin to thoughtfully and carefully reopen businesses, we will work alongside those offices to ensure that our University responds and acts in a manner that is supportive of our local communities. It is likely that MSU students, faculty, and staff will see a gradual return to established practices rather than a dramatic shift from closed to open.

Many questions of course remain regarding the effects of the COVID-19 virus, but as we learn more each day, we are hopeful and optimistic about the future of Midwestern State University. While our lives have been altered by the course of events during these past three months, the knowledge gained during this time will help us shape an even safer, better environment for our campus community.

As our various leadership teams plan for the many aspects of opening our fall semester, we also must anticipate the possibility of needing to alter our plans at some point in the 2020-2021 academic year. Therefore, the teams will create contingency plans for possible scenarios that could require that we adjust our course of action during the fall or spring semester.

We understand that many of you will desire additional details about this transition back to our regular business operations. Those details will be released to our campus community as we are able to do so and will allow ample time for our employees and students to plan accordingly.

For now, I want to encourage you to stay the course, continue to support one another, and finish this semester strong. I know I speak for many of you when I say how much I miss greeting you and seeing you enjoy our lovely campus spaces. It will be wonderful to share the MSU campus with you again!

Sincerely,

Suzanne Shipley, Ph.D.
MSU Texas President
