How do I sign up for direct deposit?

Direct deposit is available to all MSU Texas employees. Complete the direct deposit form located on the Payroll Forms webpage, and return the form to the Payroll Office.

How do I get my W-2 online?

  • Sign in to Banner Self-Service
  • Enter Secure Area
  • Click Employee
  • Tax Forms
  • Electronic W-2 Consent
  • Click checkbox and submit

If you no longer want to receive your W-2 electronically, you can withdraw consent by returning to the Electronic W-2 Consent page where you originally elected to receive the document online and uncheck the consent box. Alternatively, you may send a written request that includes your Mustang ID to the Payroll Department at:

By withdrawing consent, you will receive a paper W-2 at the end of January each year until online consent is selected again.

Why isn't Social Security tax being withheld from my paycheck?

MSU Texas students who work on campus may be eligible for an exemption from FICA taxes. See the explanation regarding FICA exemption on our Payroll Instructions webpage.

Why isn't Federal Income Tax being withheld from my paycheck?

Federal income tax deductions are based on each individual's W-4 information. W-4 forms are available in the Payroll Office of you can access a W-4 through the link on our Payroll Forms webpage.

If you are unsure of how many allowances you should claim on your W-4, please visit the IRS website and use the W-4 calculator provided. Return the original W-4 to the Payroll Office for processing.

When will W-2 forms be available each year?

W-2 processing beings in January of each year. Once the processing is complete, you will receive an email letting you know that they are available electronically to view/print in Self-Service provided you have elected Electronic Consent. If you have not elected Electronic Consent, W-2 forms are mailed by January 31 each year.

The first of the month is on the weekend. Will I be paid the Friday before or the Monday after?

When the first of the month falls on a weekend or a holiday, payday will be the first business day of the month.
