Description

MSU's master's program in English offers study that leads to a Master of Arts degree or a Master of Science degree. The two degrees differ only in that the Master of Arts requires students to meet a foreign language requirement. The program prepares students for the next step in their careers, whether that be teaching at the college level, entering the field of professional writing, or continuing scholarly or creative pursuits. The curriculum is founded on courses in literature, language, writing studies, and pedagogy. Students receive one-on-one interaction with faculty during the application process, establishing a rapport that is continued through small class sizes, graduate research opportunities, and instructional assistantship opportunities. Graduates of the program have used their degrees to establish careers in writing, publishing, communications, education, business, government, law, and the arts.
