Online BAAS Degree Program
The following credit may be granted:
- 12 credits for Basic Law Enforcement Certification
- 6 credits for Advanced Law Enforcement Certification
- University of Virginia Course Credit for the FBI Academy
- Sam Houston State University Credit for LEMIT
- Credit may be granted for National Fire Academy ACE Certificates
- FAA certified personnel should provide a copy of ACE transcripts.
- 6 credits for work experience
- Credits may be awarded for military training CCAF or ACE
- Credit for Jailer’s license and Corrections Officer’s Certificates
- Academic credits from regionally accredited institutions of higher education may be transferred into the program
Midwestern State University, a fully accredited state-supported university, offers its Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree to law enforcement personnel throughout the state of Texas. The BAAS degree has served traditional students and the law enforcement community for over 20 years. It allows firefighters, law enforcement, and traditional students to earn a degree by combining previously earned academic credits, vocational training and work/military experience. In cooperation with all community colleges in Texas the entire degree can be completed online.
Students with a minimum of 18 college credits, exclusive of Midwestern State University’s core requirements, and 3 years of work experience, may be eligible to enter the program. No more than 69 academic credits may transfer from junior colleges.
