Official MSU Texas web resources must be accessible to everyone.
Web resources include any data, information, application, or tool published on the Internet. This includes, but is not limited to, webpages, websites, and web applications.
All official MSU Texas web resources, must comply with the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §206, State Web Sites, TAC §213, Electronic and Information Resources, and applicable University policies. Official MSU Texas web resources include any data, information, application, or tool published on the Internet by the colleges, schools, departments, or other areas of MSU Texas to support the mission/business operations of the University.
All MSU Texas content editors must complete Accessibility Training before being granted access to the University’s content management system (CMS). The MSU Texas Department of Disability Support Services maintains the MSU Texas Accessibility webpages to provide resources for the campus community.
There are many tools available for validating the accessibility of your webpages. These include, but are not limited to:
Document Accessibility
MSU Texas's preferred vendor for remediating PDFs to ensure Title II ADA compliance is Documenta11y. To use their service, upload your documents to the Documenta11y portal to receive a quote for the cost of the remediation work. After your cost is approved, work will be completed within the agreed time frame.
Please note that this is not recommended for PII, Personally Identifiable Information, but to ensure your documents that need to be published to the MSU Texas web domains, are fully ADA compliant.
To ensure consistency and compliance with accessibility standards, PDF is the primary and preferred file format for all documents published to the website.
All documents submitted for web publishing will be routed through the Web Services workflow for review and processing.
File Requirements
- PDF files are required for all document uploads
- Word documents and other file types are not permitted for publishing unless an accessible PDF version is also provided
- All PDFs must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards
Accessibility Responsibility
Departments are responsible for providing fully accessible PDF documents at the time of submission. Files that do not meet accessibility requirements may be returned for remediation before publishing.Tools for Accessibility
