In an effort to maintain consistency among Writing Intensive courses and clarity for students, MSU faculty who teach a WI course are invited to copy and paste the following statement into syllabi:
Writing Intensive Course
This course is designated as Writing Intensive (WI). This means that at least 50% of the final course grade comes from at least three writing assignments. Additionally, this course emphasizes writing as a process, meaning that students are expected to plan, draft, and revise their written responses. Finally, passing this course will partially fulfill the Writing Proficiency Requirement (WPR).
