Please read carefully! Only those students who are on track to graduate in May 2024 or Summer 2024 should take the Writing Proficiency Exam, as requirements will change for December 2024 graduates. If you are unsure about whether to sign up for the Writing Proficiency Exam, please contact your academic advisor, or email writingprof@msutexas.edu immediately!
WPE Payment Procedure: Two Steps: Apply first, then, if approved, pay second.
- Complete the WPE Student Survey Opens on: Monday, April 8th, 2024, at 8AM, CT, and will close on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, at 4PM, CT.
- Once you click the WPE Student Survey link above, you will first be directed to the single sign on page on the MSU Texas site, where you need to log in using your student credentials. Once logged in, you'll then be automatically redirected to MustangsLink, where you can complete the survey.
- To purchase your exam ticket, please visit our Touchnet page Opens on: Monday, April 8th, 2024, at 8AM, CT, and will close on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, at 4PM, CT.
The exam will be in D2L. Please note the following information:
- If you have not completed 60 credit hours or your two communication core courses, you will receive an email from our office with instructions for using your ticket at a later date. You will not be able to take your WPE this semester.
- If you receive services through Disability Support Services, after you purchase your ticket, please contact the DSS office to make arrangements.
- Expect an email from writingprof@msutexas.edu sometime during the week before the exam that will include exam day instructions. Additionally, you may visit our webpage for more details and exam preparation materials.
