The West College of Education & Professional Studies (WCOEPS) at Midwestern State University is dedicated to transparency and sharing our candidates' outcome data. The WCOEPS programs comply with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) standards. CAEP has identified four (4) annual outcome and impact measures for Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs). They are included below.
CAEP Accountability Measures 2024-2025
- Measure 1: Completer Impact and Effectiveness. (R4.1)
- Program completers effectively contribute to P-12 student learning growth.
- Measure 2 (Initial and Advanced): Satisfaction of employers and stakeholder involvement.
- Employers are satisfied with the completer's preparation for their assigned responsibilities in working with diverse P-12 students and families.
- Measure 3 (Initial and Advanced): Candidate Competency at completion (R3.3)
- The state of Texas requires the majority of West College of Education initial program candidates to take and pass a minimum of two exams to be certified, the applicable TExES content exam and the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) exam.
- Measure 4 (Initial and Advanced): Ability of completers to be hired (in positions for which they have prepared).
- The EPP tracks and receives two types of data related to Measure 4. First, the EPP tracks the number of students who graduate and are certified in the respective programs, both initial and advanced. A student can graduate without seeking initial certification. Additionally, the EPP receives employment data mid-year for the preceding cycle. This employment data tracks graduates who have been certified and their current positions. This data is gathered a year behind. For example, in 2025-2026, we received the data for 2024-2025. Although a person might graduate in one year, they may certify in another and then seek a position later on, thus the data pattern we see below.
