The Priddy Foundation Scholars Program provides scholarships for first generation students, in addition to supporting students throughout their four years of education at Midwestern State University. Opportunities for "The Priddy Scholars" include student success workshops, career planning assistance and study abroad.
The application for new Fall 2025 students opens 1 November!
Eligibility
- Students must come from families with adjusted gross incomes (AGI) of $50,000 to $125,000. For students from families with an AGI of less than $50,000, please visit the Mustangs Guarantee Program webpage for information on available financial aid.
- Must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)for the following fall term.
- Students must apply to the program by April 1, 5pm.
- Students must be a first-generation student starting their first year in college in the upcoming fall. A student is considered first generation if neither parent (or guardian) graduated with a four-year college degree.
- Students selected into the program should be incoming first year students and must have a high school GPA of at least a 3.0.
- In order to continue in the program, students must complete all required program activities and maintain a 2.5 cumulative MSU GPA.
This program is sponsored by The Priddy Foundation with priority given to students from its North Texas service area, which includes the following counties: Archer, Baylor, Childress, Clay, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Haskell, Jack, King, Knox, Montague, Stonewall, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, Wise, and Young. Additionally, included in the priority area are the following Oklahoma counties: Comanche, Cotton, Jackson, Jefferson, Stephens, and Tillman.
Duration
The award is a four-year award, pending Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), completion of 30/60/90 hours each academic year, and completion of Priddy Scholars requirements.
Application
The deadline to apply for The Priddy Foundation Scholars Program at Midwestern State University is April 1. The application features an essay on one of four topics; for more details, click here for info on the essay.
Support for Students
The Priddy Scholars program is coordinated by Director Cammie Dean and Program Coordinator, Ryan Kelly. Participants meet individually with program staff at least twice each semester, and have weekly workshops or activities. Click here for a message from Ms. Dean.
Program Requirements
First year
- Reside in a first-year residence hall.
- Participate in a first-year learning community.
- Participate in weekly meetings covering topics such as time management, money management, working with up to date technology, and study skills.
- Complete an interest inventory and work with the professional staff in the Career Management Center to select a major.
Sophomore year
- Reside in a scholar community in Legacy Hall.
- Select and complete a community service project as a group.
- Work with the Career Management Center on career options.
Junior and senior years
- Participate in study abroad.
- Participate in undergraduate research or a creative arts endeavor.
- Participate in an internship.
- Work with the Career Management Center on resume building, post-graduation
