Midwestern State University will offer the Mustangs Guarantee Program to students new to MSU who have not previously received a Baccalaureate degree; students must be Texas residents, Pell Grant eligible, and whose family’s combined annual Adjusted Gross Income is $65,000 or less. The Mustangs Guarantee Program will cover the remaining balance of any tuition and mandatory fees for 15 or more credit hours each semester for up to four academic years (summer terms and non-MSU enrolled hours are not included) that are NOT covered by other grants, scholarships, exemptions, benefits, and/or waiver programs received by the student. The Mustangs Guarantee Program does NOT cover room, board, books, supplies, or miscellaneous charges including parking fees, installment plan fees, post office box rental fees, late fines, reinstatement fees, late registration fees, etc.

All grants, scholarships, exemptions, benefits, and/or waiver programs will be applied to tuition and mandatory fees first; any remaining tuition/fee balance will be covered with the MGP award. All other expenses, such as room and meal plans, are not included in the MGP award.

The MGP amount is initially awarded as $ -0- in the MSU Portal and the actual award amount will be posted to your student account AFTER official enrollment day (or, 12th class day for each fall and spring semester; Part of Term B courses have a later official enrollment date) for tuition/fees not already covered with other aid, as cited above – this is necessary to ensure you “enroll and stay enrolled in a minimum of at least 15 hours through the official enrollment."

Students must meet the following criteria to participate and continue in the Mustangs Guarantee Program:

  • Be accepted for admission to the university for a Fall term on/before March 1st, or Spring term on/before November 1st;
