1. Complete your Application for Admission at https://msutexas.edu/admissions/apply.php
- Send your official transcript, ACT or SAT scores and $40 application fee to MSU Admissions Office.
- You must meet minimum class rank and SAT or ACT criteria in order to be considered for admission to MSU. The grid below provides the specific criteria that must be met to be automatically granted admission to MSU.

3. Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships

4. Apply for Housing if you plan to live in the MSU residence halls
- Inquire about housing deposit necessary to secure a room on our beautiful campus.
5. Credit by Exam
- Gather information about Texas Success Initiative (TSI) and AP, CLEP and IB exams; have your scores sent to the MSU Admissions Office.
- Credit by Exam courses have the potential to transfer in as college courses - this can save you time AND money!
6. Bacterial Meningitis
- If you are 22 years of age or younger, you must either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis or meet certain criteria to decline the vaccination before you can attend MSU’s New Student Orientation.
- At Mustangs orientation you will be introduced to life at MSU and register for your first classes – and it’s required.
- Be advised early! Ask questions! And REGISTER FOR CLASSES!
