Purpose
In the field of Radiologic Sciences, there is a growing need for skilled mammographers.

The MSU Mammography Certificate Program provides radiology students and professionals an opportunity to further their radiologic science careers with a specialty in mammography. This program consists of online didactic courses and clinical experience requirements obtained by student arrangement. Upon completion of the Mammography Certificate Program, technologists will have received the coursework and will have independently obtained the clinical experience requirements needed to qualify for and take the post-primary American Registry of Radiologic Technologists® (ARRT®) Mammography Examination.
Pathways

The Mammography Certificate Program is designed to meet the growing need for mammography-competent technologists in radiology. This program provides several pathways to meet the specific requirements of the individual radiology student or professional. All Mammography Program courses are delivered entirely online with no on-campus requirements.*

Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS) completion program with Mammography Certificate

This pathway is for students in the BSRS program who are registered technologists in radiography. The student will graduate with a BSRS degree and a Mammography Certificate. Upon completion, the technologist will be prepared to sit for the ARRT Mammography Examination.

Non-degree seeking Mammography Certificate

This pathway is for registered technologists in radiography who are not seeking a BSRS degree. Completing the certificate will prepare the technologist to sit for the ARRT Mammography Examination.

Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRT) with Mammo-Dual Modality

This pathway is for entry-level students who are seeking dual national certification (Radiography and Mammography). The MSU BSRT entry-level program students complete mammography courses concurrently with their BSRT courses during their senior year. This work prepares them to sit for the ARRT Mammography Examination directly after completion of their Radiography Registry Exam.

Flexible Clinical Arrangements

The Mammography Program courses are fully online providing flexibility in schedules and geographical locations. Each student may achieve their ARRT clinical experience requirements in the hospital or clinic where they are employed or at a location near them. MSU can provide help in finding and forming these relationships.

COVID-19 is currently affecting our community and campus. Please be aware that policies may change suddenly. Clinical site immunization policies supersede program requirements. Students must understand that most clinical agencies prohibit the presence of unvaccinated students at their facilities. Students who are unwilling or unable to comply with their clinical site immunization policy will be required to step out of the program and reapply. Students attending programs in the Gunn College of Health Science and Human services will most likely care for COVID-positive patients. Therefore, it is advised that all students receive the COVID-19 vaccine before their first clinical rotation. It is also recommended that students receive the COVID-19 booster.
