The Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia’s research program focuses on the causes and treatment of dyslexia and mathematics disabilities. Research projects have included studies on:

  • The effectiveness of the latest version of the curriculum, Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students With Dyslexia (summary or full research report)
  • The effects of the curriculum taught in public schools
  • The long-term outcome of the center’s dyslexia intervention
  • The effectiveness of the center's Dyslexia Training Program

The center’s research findings have been presented at the World Congress of Dyslexia, the annual conference of the International Dyslexia Association and the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading.

In addition, the center’s research team has worked with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and The University of Texas at Dallas to study mathematics disabilities. Together they created one of the few published accounts studying mathematics disabilities over time.
