Congratulations! You are eligible to receive the TEXAS Grant (Initial or Renewal) award for the 2024-25 award year at Midwestern State University.

In accordance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) directive, first priority for the TEXAS Grant funds MUST be given to our Renewal students; any TEXAS Grant funds remaining after our Renewal students have been awarded may then be allocated to Initial students. Additionally, THECB requires that TEXAS Grant awards plus other grant/scholarship aid must be at least equal to a student’s tuition and fee expenses; this directive has been taken into account when distributing our TEXAS Grant funds.

At MSU, to receive the TEXAS Grant, you must have a complete financial aid file on/before October 01, 2024 (FALL semester) or November 01, 2024 (SPRING semester), which includes the submission of all required documents if chosen for verification.

In our effort to stretch our TEXAS Grant dollars to include as many awards as we can, the TEXAS Grant awards have been distributed as follows:

Renewal Awards:

  • At MSU, the maximum award amount is $5,000 (or, $2,500/semester); this maximum amount may have been awarded with one or more grant awards in that we may have simply added the TEXAS Grant to your existing grant awards OR we may have replaced one or more of your grant awards with the TEXAS Grant to arrive at the $5,000 maximum amount;
  • If you continue to meet the TEXAS Grant eligibility criteria, you will remain eligible for future Renewal awards, provided state legislation continues to fund the program.

Initial Awards:

  • At MSU, the maximum award amount is $5,000 (or, $2,500/semester); this maximum amount may have been fully awarded to you OR we may have awarded the full amount with a combination of one or more grant awards in that we may have simply added the TEXAS Grant to your existing grant awards OR we may have replaced one or more of your grant awards with the TEXAS Grant;
  • If you continue to meet the TEXAS Grant eligibility criteria, you will become eligible for future Renewal awards, provided state legislation continues to fund the program;

Students who are new to the TEXAS Grant program (Priority or Initial recipients) are required to complete the “Statement of Student Eligibility"; TEXAS Grant Renewal students have already completed the form in a prior semester and are not required to submit again.

If you have decided NOT to attend MSU afterall, you may DECLINE your awards in the MSU's Portal (or myMSUTexas) OR you may simply email us at financial-aid@msutexas.edu  (be sure to give us your name and Mustangs ID#) OR complete our 2024-25 Change Formso that we can decline your awards on your behalf. This will allow us to assist other deserving MSU students with much-needed financial assistance.
