Sample Contract Negotiation Timeline

  • Monday, Oct. 19th – the Office of the Registrar releases the new spring course listing
  • Before Monday, Nov. 2nd – the honors student meets separately with her academic and honors advisors to plan a course schedule for the spring term; the honors student requests to propose an honors contract during her meeting with an honors advisor
  • Monday, Nov. 2nd – the honors student registers for spring classes; following registration, the student requests permission from the instructor of a pre-selected upper level course in which the student is now enrolled to contract her class for honors credit
  • Wednesday, Nov. 4th – the honors student receives permission from the instructor to contract her course for honors credit; the student and instructor begin negotiating the details of her honors project
  • Monday, Nov. 30th – the student and instructor finalize the details of the honors project for their proposed honors contract; the instructor submits the honors project description and the proposed course syllabi to the Honors Staff via the contract submission portal
  • Tuesday, Dec. 1st – the program director approves the honors project for the student’s honors contract and gives permission for the contract to proceed
  • Friday, Jan. 8th – the instructor sends Honors Staff her final spring course syllabus
  • Monday, Jan. 11th – spring classes begin; the honors student begins her honors contract
