Graduate Application Process for International Applicants

  1. Application
    • Create a Mustang Advantage account to apply for McAda Graduate School. Application deadlines vary by graduate program. Refer to the Application Deadlines webpage for more information.

  3. Transcripts
    • Request official transcripts from all institutions you have attended other than Midwestern State University. Transcripts maybe electronic or printed. Electronic transcripts must be submitted by institutions to Midwestern State University through a transcript service, such as Parchment or Speede. Electronic transcripts submitted by institutions or applicants through email will not be accepted.
    • Printed transcripts must be mailed in sealed envelopes from institutions to:

  4. Application Status
    • Allow some time for your application to be processed.
  5. GRE Scores
    • If required by your intended program, request official GRE scores from ETS. Scores may be electronic or printed. Electronic scores must be emailed from ETS to the Admissions Office. Electronic scores mailed from applications will not be accepted as official.
    • Printed scores must be mailed in a sealed envelope from ETS to:

  6. English Proficiency Test Scores
    • Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores are required from students from non-native English speaking countries. Students from the following native-English speaking countries are exempt from submitting any English proficiency scores:
      • Australia
      • Canada (except the Province of Quebec)
      • Republic of Ireland
      • Liberia
      • New Zealand
      • United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales)
      • United States
      • Ghana
      • Commonwealth Caribbean Countries
    • Applicants must submit a score of at least 550 on the paper-based TOEFL exam or a score of at least 213 on the computer-based exam, or 79 on the Internet-based exam (iBT) to meet the university requirement for unconditional admission.
      • For exams taken before January 21, 2026:
        Students taking TOEFL iBT will be required to score a minimum total test score of 79, with preferred scores on each of the sections of the test as follows:
        • Writing - 20
        • Speaking - 20
        • Reading - 19
        • Listening - 20
      • For exams taken after January 21, 2026:
        • Writing - 4
        • Speaking - 4
        • Reading - 4
        • Listening - 4
    • IELTS Test score of 6.0 will serve as an acceptable alternative to the above TOEFL requirement.
    • ITEP Test score of 4.0 will serve as an acceptable alternative to the above TOEFL requirement.
    • PTE Test score of 53 will serve as an acceptable alternative to the above TOEFL requirement.
    • Duolingo score of 100 will serve as an acceptable alternative to the above TOEFL requirement.
    • Cambridge English Proficiency Test score of B2 (170 or higher), C1, or C2 will serve as an acceptable alternative to the above TOEFL requirement.

      A local English proficiency examination may be required.

Electronic scores must be emailed from the testing service to McAda Graduate School. Electronic scores emailed from applicants will not be accepted as official.   1. Application Review
    • Once your application is complete, allow some time for your application to be reviewed by the coordinator of your intended graduate program. Check your email for a formal notification of your admission decision.
  2. Admission Review
    • If you are admitted, select that you want to accept the offer on the Mustang Advantage application portal. If you are denied admission, you can contact the coordinator of your intended gradate program to discuss the decision.
