Campus Life

General Guidelines

Face masks or appropriate face coverings will be required in campus buildings by all students, faculty, and staff as outlined in our Facial Covering Requirement.

At MSU Texas, we value the connections that you'll make with other Mustangs, faculty and staff. Being a Mustang allows you the opportunity to make lifelong friends, find community and success. As a campus community, we are working hard to create a fun and safe experience for you this fall while practicing social distancing guidelines. Our goal is for you to enjoy the vibrant campus life experience for which MSU Texas is known.

Connections to student activities, organizations and leadership opportunities are important to the student experience at MSU Texas. Student events, as with other events on campus, will resume in a phased approach in accordance with the health and safety guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We are committed to upholding critical safety measures emphasizing social distancing and thorough hygiene efforts in the following ways:

  • Prior to returning to campus, student organizations will be invited to participate in a series of virtual training activities to assist student leaders in understanding social distancing guidelines, space considerations, and virtual programming opportunities.
  • Campus Life professionals understand the relationship between students’ social connections on campus and retention. New students will begin building valuable connections through virtual programming opportunities, small group interactions, and hybrid activities intended to help students understand what it means to be a Mustang.
  • New student orientation and parent orientation programming is being delivered virtually.
  • Extended orientation sessions through our Mustangs Roundup tradition will continue in a modified format prior to the start of the Fall 2020 semester. Students will learn about campus resources and traditions in small cohorts throughout the week. Modified program delivery will include a combination of small group interactions and virtual opportunities designed to reinforce social distancing standards.

MSU Texas has developed a programming guide and program planning worksheet to assist student organizations in planning events and programs in the campus community.
