New Student Orientation Information



What will you do at New Student Orientation?

  • Learn about essential student resources
  • Get answers to all of your questions

How to Prepare for New Student Orientation:

  • Log in to our MSU portal to check your student holds, financial aid, schedule of classes, etc. Come prepared with questions! There will be multiple resources available to answer all of your questions during and after your New Student Orientation session.
  • Make sure that your student holds have been lifted prior to attending orientation. If you are not sure what student holds you still have or how to lift those holds, please contact the Office of Admissions at 1-800-842-1922.
  • Check your TSI (Texas Success Initiative) assessment status and complete your TSI requirement (if you have not already done so) before you register for classes. More information about the TSI assessment can be found at
  • Contact your Academic Counselor based off your major to create your schedule of classes before you attend your orientation session:
  • If you are 21 years of age or younger, submit your proof of Bacterial Meningitis vaccination to the Magnus Health portal to clear your Bacterial Meningitis hold. More information and exemption requirements can be found at
  • Please send your AP and CLEP scores OFFICIALLY through College Board to be processed by the MSU Admissions Office. The mailing address is 3410 Taft Blvd, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
  • Check in will begin at 9am in the Clark Student Center Atrium. Please be prepared to stay for the full day of programming in order to fulfill your New Student Orientation requirement.

Important Things To Know:

  • Please bring a picture ID with you to check in for New Student Orientation.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes for walking across campus and bring an umbrella in case of rain.
  • Make overnight travel accommodations in advance if necessary. If you aren’t familiar with hotels in Wichita Falls, the following link from the Wichita Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau can help you:
  • Bring paper and a pen to take notes on various presentations and information sessions.
  • Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for you.
  • Bring spending money for the MSU bookstore (optional).
