Responsibilities include but are not limited to implementation and scheduling of strength and conditioning programs for all sports. Works directly with the head coaches to design specific programs for each sport.
Develop yearly strength and conditioning programs for MSU Athletic teams. Implement and supervise strength and conditioning programs. Provide a safe environment for student-athletes by maintaining a clean and organized facility. Provide student athletes with guidance and proper training techniques for free weights and other training equipment. Maintain all equipment in the weight-room along with maintaining inventory of all equipment and supplies. Maintain up to date records for all teams, along with proper testing to measure progression. Schedule team and individual workout sessions for fall, spring and summer sessions. Interact and communicate with all staff. Return phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Stay certified and in good standing with the NSCA as a CSCS. Follow and abide by all NCAA Division II rules. Attend administrative meetings, only when they do not conflict with strength and conditioning workouts. Organize and supervise student workers and coverage of open weight room hours. Assist with the rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Attend professional educational seminars. Actively support and promote the NCAA's Life in the Balance strategic positioning platform, embracing the six deals of learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion and service.
Physical Condition
A minimum of three years experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in a University setting.
Must have a good knowledge of nutrition and of the rules and regulations of the NCAA.
Bachelor's Degree in Health & Human Performance or related program. Possess a NSCA-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification. CSCAAa-SCCC certification. CPR/AED First Aid certified
Additional Requirements
Must have an understanding of all sports and the training principals behind them and be certified in strength and conditioning and/or weightlifting by an accredited organization. Must be able to design sport-specific speed, quickness, and agility workouts. Must be able to relate to and work with student athletes, coaches, faculty, and the general public. Heavy lifting required. Strong leadership and motivational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
The University will begin a four-day summer work week beginning Monday June 4, 2018 through Thursday July 26, 2018. Office Hours will be 7:00am until 6:00pm.
