Move-In Fall 2021
New Mustangs are encouraged to move in during Move-In Weekend on August 14-15. Rapid Move-in occurs between 8:00a – 3:00p each day. This will happen before the start of Mustang Roundup and will allow students to get settled in their new homes prior to the start of the festivities.
Returning Mustangs can move in from August 14 to 22 and may sign up for the rapid move-in process with the New Mustangs on August 14-15 or Returning Mustang Day on August 21. Returning Mustangs are encouraged to Volunteer for Move-In. This is a great way to not only move in a day early but make those important connections with our incoming students. If you are not returning during the scheduled move-in times, please see “Housing Check-In” below for more information.
Move-In Weekend: August 14-15, 2021

Move-In Weekend will take place on August 14-15, 2021 from 8:00a -3:00p. This process is a Rapid Move-In, this means that staff and volunteers will be available to help the move in process happen quickly and smoothly.

Prior to Move In

Mustangs need to sign up for a check in time to participate in the rapid move-in weekend. Appointment times are available between 8:00a – 2:45p on August 14-15. These time slots fill up fast, so be sure to take advantage of these appointments.

In order to check-in quickly during your scheduled time, download the Corq app to your phone prior to arriving. This process does take a few minutes and you need to have the Corq app set up and ready in order to check-in.

Resident Hall Association (RHA) has also partnered with OCM to make packing easier with the RHA's Linen Program. Not only is it easy and convenient to get what you need for your room, but the proceeds go towards RHA and the programs and services they provide for our On-Campus Students.

Arriving on Campus/ Check-in

Check-in will occur at the Clark Student Center. Upon your arrival on campus, park in the designated Check-In parking areas, next to the Moffett Library (Lot 1S and Lot 1N). There will be signs posted around campus to direct you where to go, but check out a map of campus to be ready.

Follow the signs to the south entrance to the Clark Student Center located in Sunwatcher Plaza. The Sunwatcher statue will lead the way to the designated check in area.

 

You will need the following items at check in:

  1. A photo ID; examples may include a driver’s license, state ID, high school ID, or Mustangs ID.
  2. Your phone, with the following apps downloaded:
    1. Download the CORQ app and set up your Mustangs Link accountt; consider saving your event ID pass to your phone’s wallet for quick access. Mustangs will use this account to access an event calendar throughout the year as well as check in to all events happening on campus!
    2. Download the MSU Safety App

To boost social distancing during this time, we encourage students to limit guests to 3 individuals during move in. All individuals who are not vaccinated are encouraged to wear masks while on campus. Students are encouraged to only bring one individual with them in the check-in area. Sanitation areas will be available for everyone during the move in process.

 

You can expect the following as part of your check-in process:

  1. We’ll verify your room assignment
  2. Residence hall keys and your Mustangs ID or Temporary access card will be issued
  3. Check in for Roundup Week and get information about fun events happening this fall. Don’t forget to ask any questions you may have about the coming school year.
  4. Take a selfie, remember to use #MSUTexas and #WelcomeHomeMustangs when posting to social media!
  5. Have your photo taken for your Mustangs ID (if you have not already done so during Orientation)
  6. Students who pre-ordered textbooks through the MSU Bookstore will be able to pick up books on their way out of the building. Make sure to pick out some MSU swag from the bookstore to wear on your first day of class!

Once all steps have been completed, students will proceed to the rapid loading zones.

Rapid Move-In Process

Once you have checked in at the CSC, proceed to the Rapid Loading Zones for your assigned Residence Hall or Apartment. We have blocked off certain paths on campus to make it easier to proceed to each Rapid Loading Zone.

You will receive a colored parking pass to be placed on the dashboard of your vehicle(s). Follow the signs associated with the color of your pass to find your residence hall loading zone and designated parking area. Official parking passes can be acquired though the MSU Police Department.

Once you arrive at your loading zone, volunteers will help you unload your car and take belongings to your room. Mustangs are encouraged to park their cars (or have one of their guests park the car) in the designated parking areas before proceeding to their room. This will ensure that the line stays moving so we can get everyone moved in quickly.

Do you want to move in one day early and be a move-in volunteer?!?! Sign up to be a Move-In volunteer.  In exchange for your volunteer service, you’ll be allowed back to campus early at no charge, will receive dinner on Friday, August 13th, and you’ll get a free t-shirt.

After Move-In

Mustangs are encouraged to take the afternoon to get settled into their new homes and enjoy dinner with their guests. Mesquite Dining Hall will open at 5p on Saturday Night and will begin their Fall dining schedule that day. The first Mustang Event will begin at 7p on both Saturday and Sunday Night. This will be one of the first opportunities to meet your peers, so make sure you attend!

Housing Check In: August 14-22, 2021

Mustangs are encourage to participate in scheduled move-in events, however, we understand that some students wish to move in at other times. Students may move in between August 14-22, 2021. If you plan on Moving in on August 14-15 or 21, please see the information about Move-In Days above.

Check-In Process

Students not participating in scheduled Move-In events will check in at the Legacy Commons Desk. Students wishing to Move-In on August 14, 15 and 21 need to refer to the scheduled Move-In Events above.

You will need the following items at check in:

  1. A photo ID; examples may include a driver’s license, state ID, high school ID, or Mustangs ID.
  2. Your phone, with the following apps downloaded:

Early Move-In: Prior to August 14, 2021

Mustangs wishing to move in prior to August 14, need to complete the Early Move-in form located on the Mustangs Link. You are REQUIRED to get approval by the housing office prior to moving in. Please fill out the form at least 3 days prior to your arrival date. Early move in requests are not guaranteed. Once your request has been approved, the Office of Residence Life and Housing will send you are a confirmation email.

Check-In Process

Students approved to move-in early will be notified via email through MustangsLink. Keys may be picked up after 5:00p.m. on your approved date in the Legacy Commons. For check-in students need to:

  • Bring a valid ID; examples may include a driver’s license, state ID, high school ID, or Mustangs ID
  • Download the free CORQ App and MSU Safety App from their phone carrier app store
  • Sign in and have their student event pass on CORQ ready to be scanned
  • Complete the COVID-19 self-assessment form on the MSU Safety App on site

Mustangs moving in early will be charged $20 a night unless approved by a campus organization to move in early. Students approved for early move in are still required to complete the Early Move In Form and receive confirmation.
