Travel Advisory Related to Coronavirus

MSU Texas continues to closely monitor the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that is now sparking outbreaks around the world. To date, no such cases have been reported in Wichita County, home to Midwestern State University.

Following federal and state guidelines to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), MSU Texas is suspending all university-sponsored and/or sanctioned international travel to countries for which the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a Level 2 or Level 3 Travel Warning.  As of March 6, the following countries are categorized in the CDC’s Travel Health Notices for COVID-19:

Level 3: China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea

Level 2: Japan

For those who have travel scheduled in the next 3-6 months to these countries or nearby regions, please consult with the appropriate vice president for your division/department.

In addition, MSU Texas will require that those returning from personal travel from one these countries, follow the CDC’s self observation protocol for symptoms for 14 days after leaving that destination and before returning to campus.

This is a rapidly evolving situation, and campus officials are working diligently to address the changes. We continue to consult with health officials from the City of Wichita Falls and Wichita County, in addition to using guidelines established by the CDC and Texas Department of State Health Services.
